SUNDERSTAR 0.2.7-alpha is out
This update makes fights easier to read. Shots have clearer feedback, damaged asteroids show their condition, and new markers help you keep track of the arena. Player records and arena information are easier to find, too.
Combat feedback
The new vector reticle reacts to hits and to the destruction of an enemy ship. With manually fired projectiles, its hit cue appears alongside the local impact effect. Their visual effects also remain continuous during network handoff instead of disappearing while the shot is still on screen.
Automatic fire is now limited to turrets. The forward gun remains under direct left-click control, so changing turret fire mode does not take control of that weapon away from you.
Asteroids and mining
Asteroids gain individual chips and dark cracks as they lose health. You can see the damage before they break apart.
Mining weapons now deal more damage to asteroids. The resources they drop are determined by the asteroid itself, regardless of which weapon destroys it.
Ships and controls
Hull characteristics and progression have been retuned. Maneuverability now raises the top speed for sideways and reverse movement. At rank 10, those speed limits reach the ship’s forward top speed; acceleration stays the same.
The reminder for unspent upgrade points remains visible until the points are used. With the upgrade panel open, keys 1–7 and the Numpad select its rows. HUD hints for upgrades and fire mode show your current bindings, including after a rebind, reset, language change, or HUD reload.
Navigation, Hub, and website
New screen-edge markers point toward your base and teammates in your code-based group, and warn you about the opposing base. Their team colors help distinguish the markers at a glance.
The Hub now has a global leaderboard in its upper panel. It shows each nickname’s best resource count across sessions.
The website now lists arenas with their status and player occupancy, shows the global leaderboard, and links to the approved Windows client ZIP.
Fixes
Asteroids remain visible after your ship is destroyed. Local ship movement is also smoother in sessions.
